It is shredded beef meal idea day here on Ranch Raised! As I said yesterday, I consider shredded roast beef a blank canvas and I am the Picasso.

There are so many different types of home cooks. I have always aspired to be one of those batch, freezer meal making mommas that makes a months’ worth of meals on a Sunday afternoon. But the truth is, I am so far from it.
You don’t need me to tell you that there is a lot going on in the world. And to be completely honest I probably don’t know the half of it. We do not have cable TV.
It is finally here and I am so excited that you are here to celebrate with me! Today is a day that I could have not seen coming when I started this project. I had no stars in my eyes. I had no big picture goals. But here we are, our 100th episode of Ranch Raised!
Oil is up. Corn is up. Groceries are up. Everything is up. But, cattle are down.
When crude oil goes up, so does diesel and gas. The output product follows the input product. So, if the cattle market functioned competitively like the gas market, then we would fully expect cattle prices to increase so the supply chain could recover the added cost of corn and inputs.
Have you noticed the escalating cost to fill your car up with gas? I did. It’s close to $100. Of course, in Europe the bill would be twice that much. Now we have Congress pushing new legislation that would suspend the federal gasoline tax of $.184 cents per gallon.
Anyone can ask the question, “what is your favorite cut of beef to eat?” But I have never been asked the question, “what is your favorite cut of beef to cook?” And honestly, I have two different answers to those questions. But, today, I’m going against “the grain” ….see what I did there….and I am going to answer the latter.
