Welcome back to Ranch Raised!
“With enough butter, anything is good.” ~ Julia Child

Few ingredients make a meal richer and more flavorful than butter. Today is National Butter Day and gives this creamy ingredient, and those who make it, a pat on the back.

Butter has been used by humans for thousands of years. As recently as the first half of the last century, the butter churn was an essential tool in many kitchens. When butter was rationed during World War II, households struggled to get along without this delicious staple.

The average American eats 6.3 pounds, or about 25 sticks, of cow’s butter every year. Around the world, butter can be found in cuisines of every culture, and each one uses it to enhance their recipes and enrich their lives. It makes me happy to help celebrate this day and support the American dairy farmers who work so hard to provide this American staple!

National Butter Day offers so many avenues for celebration, I think it pairs best today with National Homemade Bread day! No, I am not kidding. You can’t make this stuff up!

Speaking of a full spread of options, see what I did there? Have you checked out the full menu of listening options offered by Your Ag Network. Catch them all on their app or website. Now that is something to also be thankful for.

Signing off on this chilly, blustery day. Stay warm and have a great day from all of us at this great American radio station!

Karina ranches with her husband, Marty, and 3 daughters near Broken Bow, NE. She grew up in western NE, with roots also in southwest SD. The cattle industry and raising kids is her passion.

Watching the cattle industry go the path that it has gone, she could no longer sit quietly at home checking cows, fixing fence, and doing all the everyday tasks wondering when some else was going to make it all better. As she became more active and outspoken on industry issues, she was asked to join the R-CALF USA staff in September 2020 as the Checkoff Petition Campaign manager. That position transcended into her current role as full time Field Director for R-CALF USA.

You can hear her almost every Friday on Your Ag Network’s Hot Barn Report that is broadcast on 60 radio stations with coverage in 9 states, where she deep dives into cattle industry issues and highlights R-CALF’s work on industry reforms. Listen to Ranch Raised on a Your Ag Network hometown station or www.youragnetwork.com where she talks about her daily life on the ranch.

Cattle producers are her people. She will meet you at the county fair, at the sale barn, or anywhere the dusty trail leads.
