Karina Jones is a real-life ranch wife in the Nebraska Sandhills and one of the most highly sought-after speakers in the cattle industry nationwide!

Hey, can you make mine a double?
It is National Double Cheeseburger Day! Is there anything more American than not one but two all beef patties grilled to perfection, piled with your favorite toppings, hugged in a pillowy bun? The idea is all-American, but the beef you are eating and buying, ummm, that may not be American.

There is huge con taking place at meat counters across the country. In 2015, Congress repealed mandatory country of origin labeling on beef and pork. Leaving the American consumer with no idea where the beef they are buying comes from through traditional supply chain channels, like super markets.

What is even more infuriating, is your tax payer money is probably supporting foreign beef markets via what is being offered to kids in the school lunch program, beef being fed to our military, and even our elderly. When that foreign beef hits American soil, their country of origin label is removed and it is passed off as American beef, same as what I raise.

It is time to tell Congress that you want to know where your beef comes from! Visit LabelOurBeef.com to send a quick message to your lawmakers that you deserve to make an informed decision when you buy your beef, just like you get to do when you buy your grapes or your clothing!

So, while National Double Cheeseburger Day is the perfect all American day for us to celebrate, it is time to demand supporting the American cattle industry who proudly and safely desires to keep you and our nation fed!

Karina ranches with her husband, Marty, and 3 daughters near Broken Bow, NE. She grew up in western NE, with roots also in southwest SD. The cattle industry and raising kids is her passion.

Watching the cattle industry go the path that it has gone, she could no longer sit quietly at home checking cows, fixing fence, and doing all the everyday tasks wondering when some else was going to make it all better. As she became more active and outspoken on industry issues, she was asked to join the R-CALF USA staff in September 2020 as the Checkoff Petition Campaign manager. That position transcended into her current role as full time Field Director for R-CALF USA.

You can hear her almost every Friday on Your Ag Network’s Hot Barn Report that is broadcast on 60 radio stations with coverage in 9 states, where she deep dives into cattle industry issues and highlights R-CALF’s work on industry reforms. Listen to Ranch Raised on a Your Ag Network hometown station or www.youragnetwork.com where she talks about her daily life on the ranch.

Cattle producers are her people. She will meet you at the county fair, at the sale barn, or anywhere the dusty trail leads.
