Karina Jones is a real-life ranch wife in the Nebraska Sandhills and one of the most highly sought-after speakers in the cattle industry nationwide!

Thanks for tuning in to Fun, Fact Friday here on Ranch Raised! We are smack in the middle of May, Beef Month!

When I talk about the cattle industry lighting a fire in my soul, it is no wonder. I am surrounded by lots of like-minded people who feel the same way. In my home state of Nebraska we are home to the top 3 cow calf counties in the nation, with Cherry County taking the top spot, Holt County in 2nd place and the county I live in, Custer County, NE, the #3 beef cow county in the entire nation with almost 100,000 cows in it. Cattle are the economic driver of my county and my state, like many other states. My neighbors and I care a lot of raising the best, safest beef on the planet for your enjoyment!

According to beef2live.com beef is a nutritionally rich food and an excellent source of ten essential nutrients.  Beef is among the top food sources for protein, zinc and vitamin B12.

Some common types of lean beef cuts include: top sirloin steak, 95% lean ground beef, rib eye steak, T-Bone and tenderloin steak. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Nutrient Database shows that many cuts of beef are 20% leaner than they were 15 years ago. Half of the fatty acids found in beef are monounsaturated, the same “good healthy fat” found in olive oil.

Now, pop on over to the Your Ag Network and check out the Ranch Raised Recipe book! I have some great ideas on how to put beef on your dinner table including a Smoked Beef Roast that would make an awesome weekend meal served along side some grilled veggies!

Karina ranches with her husband, Marty, and 4 children near Broken Bow, NE. She grew up in western NE, with roots also in southwest SD. The cattle industry and raising kids is her passion.

Watching the cattle industry go the path that it has gone, she could no longer sit quietly at home checking cows, fixing fence, and doing all the everyday tasks wondering when some else was going to make it all better. As she became more active and outspoken on industry issues, she was asked to join the R-CALF USA staff in September 2020 as the Checkoff Petition Campaign manager. That position transcended into her former role as full time Field Director for R-CALF USA.

Listen to Ranch Raised on a Your Ag Network hometown station or www.youragnetwork.com where she talks about her daily life on the Jones Ranch.

Cattle producers are her people. She will meet you at the county fair, at the sale barn, or anywhere the dusty trail leads.
