Ranch Raised with Karina Jones – Welcome to June
Breathe in and breathe out every moment of this summer. Kick the stressful parts to curb and enjoy the season. Just enjoy the summer on your own terms.

So, let’s not just shuffle through this Memorial Day. Let us all come out on the other side of this treasured holiday with a vow to be the best we can be for our country, our communities, and our family. Some gave their lives being the ultimate American, I know I can do my part to give a little bit more.
Living where we do and marching to the life we live is pretty isolating and I’ve come to say that in an endearing way. Our thoughts and every move are in a vacuum this time of year and revolve around cattle work, only this year the weight of the drought is compounding our regular stress.
At 3:45 this morning I got up and out of bed to go get a drink. My husband asked me what was wrong, and I shot back, “This night just won’t end and I just can’t get to sleep.” And that is how I feel about this drought, “It just won’t end!”
I just made my first Strawberry Rhubarb crisp of the season. I hope this recipe from my home to yours brings you some enjoyment of one of my family’s favorite recipes.
I hope you all had an all star weekend celebrating your momma or somebody’s momma this weekend. If you are involved in farming or ranching, I completely understand the challenge in taking the day to do that.
Mommas, we wear some pretty big boots on the farms and ranches we reside on. So stand tall in those boots and know that you are seen, appreciated, and doing a great job.
If you are committed to be a kind person, who is a good to your family, and a productive member of society and your community then building a resume really is not all that important, so the pressure if off and no judgement here!
So, we wait and worry. We watch as neighbors send more cows to town.
As I become intoxicated with the memories of packing her on the front of my saddle all those years ago, when she was all tuckered out from trailing cows to grass, I settle with affirmation, that “yes”, we gave it everything we got!
