Let us all celebrate that 2026 is half way OVER as we say “hello” to the month of July!
While we can not predict what the back half of 2026 has in store for all of us, I would bet many are just hoping to survive because the first half of 2026 has been a doozy! If Mother Nature would just even out her mood swings and bring much needed moisture relief to the west to extinguish drought and fires, that would be great.
If the markets would stay favorable for the livestock industry and improve and stabilize for the grains, that would aleviate a lot of stress. If ag inputs would moderate and soften, that would be welcomed. If the global conflict would calm, we would all sleep easier.
If I could wave a magic wand over this country and bring peace & prosperity to all hard working Americans, I would. But, 2026 has proven I am no match to the challenges she has in store for us. So I do what I know best. I focus on my little part of this world, my home and family. I prioritize raising what we hope will be good human beings that will contribute to their communities. I will raise a garden to nourish my family. I will raise a herd of beef cattle that will help feed my country. I may not be a world traveler that can solve world peace. But, I do hope that I can do good works that will contribute to the great good of my neighborhood and country.
And maybe these words will give you some reflection as we head into a weekend of celebration. Our boots all walk on this American soil. So how can we all contribute to being the best American’s we can be not only for the rest of 2026, but for all of our time spent on this earth.
