Ready or not we are rolling into a new week, right here on Ranch Raised.
It is bull season. Putting out bulls. Making sure bulls behave. Locating the owners of the extra bulls that show up. It is that season. It is the season of pushing pairs out to the furthest reaches of the ranch for their summer vacation. It is the season of checking water sources multiple times a week, because there is no ground water for backup water sources. We still have a few more to brand. We still have some clean up AIing to do. It is always fencing season. For the lucky ones it is haying season. That is a season we keep praying for and hoping our turn will come and it will be enough to feed the cows. So we are still in a praying season and that season, too, never ends.
We are in a season of watching calves, kids, and flowers grow. If I make to the greenhouse today, maybe I can enter the season of watching my garden grow too. That is a season I am very much ready for. It is very much rhubarb season, which makes everyone happy.
We are in a season of soaking in everyday with a full house of kids, while bracing our hearts for the transition of our oldest leaving the nest in a few months. We are in a season of sweetening friendships and cherishing family while making memories.
This is our summer season. We may not go on family vacations to wild places. But, we will pitch a tent in the yard, swim in the local river, grab yummy drinks at some of our favorite coffee shops along the trails we travel, lay underneath these Sandhills stars, and breathe in this life that we are blessed with.
May you too be in a season you are blessed with.
