We were hoping for more early moisture but Mother Nature didn’t care.
Never the less, we did the best as caretakers could.
Your mommas did their job and brought you back to the ranch this fall, as a good cow should.
We’ve raised you up and got you to this exciting point.
And now it’s time that you leave this joint.
We are proud of the young steers and heifers you’ve became.
We hope that you do well for your next owner and bring them no shame.
With our legacy on your hide.
And for that brand we proudly ride!
You were born with great purpose of feeding the people of our nation.
So now it is time for you to go to your next destination.
With calving around the corner, it is time for the cattle cycle to start anew.
The books need balanced and we need some cash flow, too.
We pray dear Lord, make the check just enough.
To get through the next year, we know it will be tough.
We’ve got kids to raise and boots to put on lots of feet.
Fuel, insurance, machinery and oh yeah, we all gotta eat.
So much is out of our hands when we put you on that truck.
All we can hope for is the board to be and for the market to not suck.
The summer was dry and left us short on hay.
You’ve reached the point where no longer at our ranch you can stay.
It is one big day for all our work to get paid.
The trucks are rolling towards Valentine, yeehaw, it is SHIPPING DAY!
