What does radio broadcasting have to do with milking cows? Here is what I’ve learned after 5 years of being on the airwaves.
Growing up in ranching, I grew up looking around at my family watching everyone work, everyday. Everyday there were chores. Everyday there was work. When I took on the invitation to start my own daily radio program, I knew I had a lot to learn on the technical side. What I quickly settled in to was that this job, was like everything else I was already doing. Recording my daily program is like doing chores. Everyday, the livestock has to be fed. At one time, I had a milk cow and lots of milk goats. Everyday, twice a day, those ladies had to be milked to remain in their best health. And so with that, everyday, I have to come up with idea for a show topic, peck out my script on my computer, record that script, edit that recording, attach the intro and the commercial, and then upload it to the radio towers so that you all can enjoy this program on your local hometown radio station.
I am blessed that I get to provide the fruits of my thoughts and creativity from my ranch without having to drive to town to do this work. This program is 110% authentically, ME. There is no one writing my script or doing my editing. Like ranching, radio does not take a vacation or observe holiday breaks. Radio is 24/7. So in the humblest of ways, I have always felt like connecting with all of you, is one of my daily chores, like gathering eggs, feeding livestock. All the things that I enjoy immensely. I enjoy my daily routine, greatly, that includes connecting all of you.
