Graduation season is in full swing across the land. For some this is a super joyous time of celebration. Maybe you are celebrating incredible high school accomplishments and maybe you are celebrating slamming the high school chapter shut and moving on. For some, this season stirs some uncertainty and anxiety, especially if you are not as sure as your peers of what you want your future to be.
I predict the most commonly asked question during graduation receptions to be, “Well, what are you doing next?” Now, I have full expectation that this question is asked with sincerity and from a place of truly caring. Here is the thing. There is NO right or wrong answer. Graduates to say that you truly don’t have your life mapped out for the next 30 years, is just fine. To share that you are going to be a lifeguard at the pool this summer is great! Heck, if you plan on helping your grandpa farm and dropping a line in the water at the local lake, by all means, say that!
Nobody lays heavier responsibility on their kids than this momma right here! But, I am also A-okay with allowing my children to fail through life and get a feel for what this world is about. If you are committed to be a kind person, who is a good to your family, and a productive member of society and your community then building a resume really is not all that important, so the pressure if off and no judgement here!
