That would be a gift in itself that wouldn’t cost you a dime.
Help the grass and the garden grow like a scene painted with a brush.
And reminds us to slow down and enjoy the scenery with no need to rush.
Keep the horses sound and give us some good days out on the trail.
Keep the windmills pumping a clear, blue stream without ever fail.
Keep these cattle markets in favor another year or two so we can make it through.
We are gritty and tough folk, but we need a fair playing field too.
Keep the banker happy and the tax man off our back.
Help these interest rates and gas prices slide back down the track
Keep my neighbors and my family safe and in good health.
And may all the businesses in town stay afloat as we spread around a little farmer & rancher wealth.
Santa bring us some hope that a legacy we can pass on.
The best gift of all would be seeing our grandkids ride this ranch at dawn.
I’m getting a little windy and even a little misty eyed.
Santa, I just want us all to be able to prosper, be free, and in the country way of life, THRIVE!

Karina ranches with her husband, Marty, and 4 children near Broken Bow, NE. She grew up in western NE, with roots also in southwest SD. The cattle industry and raising kids is her passion.
Watching the cattle industry go the path that it has gone, she could no longer sit quietly at home checking cows, fixing fence, and doing all the everyday tasks wondering when some else was going to make it all better. As she became more active and outspoken on industry issues, she was asked to join the R-CALF USA staff in September 2020 as the Checkoff Petition Campaign manager. That position transcended into her former role as full time Field Director for R-CALF USA.
