While there are a lot of life skills that I love teaching our kids, there are some areas I have to recognize that I am not a master of and defer to others for help. Learning to swim is a life skill that is not used a lot on the ranch, but I feel very passionately as a parent that my kids are equipped to handle themselves in the water.

On Wednesday I was tuning into the sale at Bassett Livestock, when the king of Cowtown, Shane Kaczor announced that they had 1000 weigh-ups and would have to sell the last 200 of them after the pairs and breds. I mean, this isn’t November, this is the middle of JUNE and the cows just keep coming to town, for the second year in a row.
