Christmas Cookies! Thanks for tuning in today to Ranch Raised.
Maybe it is my sentimental heart or my longing to hold tight to past traditions, but I still love the idea of baking Christmas cookies to share with those we love and adore. Who are we kidding, I love baking anything any time of year!
Christmas seasons of decades ago seemed so simple. They weren’t polluted with toys and gadgets, expensive personal care items and jewelry, and all these modern conveniences that have changed out world. The season was filled with sugar, spices, hot cocoa, candy canes, and those living high on the hog were throwing around some tinsel.
I’ve said it before that I have always been settled with a minimalist mindset and never felt the need to go over the top spending for holidays. I still feel this time of year it is well to kick up the oven, soften the butter, and get to mixing up something with love and that is just what we intend to do! So what is your favorite Christmas cookie? Buckeyes or brownie bites, the classic frosted sugar cookie or snickerdoodle, how about a chocolate crinkle or an old fashioned chocolate chip? My husband will tell you he has never met a cookie he didn’t like.
Come back tomorrow I’ve got a new cookie recipe that I have never shared here on Ranch Raised, but if you want to find some of my old favorites like the big batch of Jones Ranch Chocolate Chip Cookies or Snickerdoodles, you can find those recipes on the Your Ag Network website, under the Ranch Raised Recipe book!

Karina ranches with her husband, Marty, and 4 children near Merriman, NE. She grew up in western NE, with roots also in southwest SD. The cattle industry and raising kids is her passion.
Watching the cattle industry go the path that it has gone, she could no longer sit quietly at home checking cows, fixing fence, and doing all the everyday tasks wondering when some else was going to make it all better. As she became more active and outspoken on industry issues, she was asked to join the R-CALF USA staff in September 2020 as the Checkoff Petition Campaign manager. That position transcended into her former role as full time Field Director for R-CALF USA.
Listen to Ranch Raised on a Your Ag Network hometown station or www.youragnetwork.com where she talks about her daily life on the Jones Ranch.
Cattle producers are her people. She will meet you at the county fair, at the sale barn, or anywhere the dusty trail leads.
