Karina Jones is a real-life ranch wife in the Nebraska Sandhills and one of the most highly sought-after speakers in the cattle industry nationwide!
All under one roof again.
Raising children the way that my husband and I have set out to do, is now showing us an unintended consequence that we may not have planned years ago. Making sure everyone builds an arsenal of capable skills and problem solving aptitude has proven that as our children mature and age, they are flexing their independence and taking the reins of their own lives, maybe before I intended. That scenario has played out in full display these last two months. My oldest daughter has probably spent more nights away from us than she has under the same roof. Between cattle shows, working for other ranches, college visits, staying at our other ranch independently, and recently attending a Youth Beef Leadership Symposium in Lincoln, I have watched this girl jet around 4 states in the past few weeks while balancing her college dual credit classes and her other responsibilities. I have used this time to prepare my head and my heart for what’s to come, for what I know has to come. For I know that this girl has wings that are ready to stretch and dreams that are ready to take flight.
My days and nights are numbered, ya’ll, and I’m not taking a single one that I have left for granted. I mean the nights when I have all 4 kids tucked into their beds, under the same roof. The mornings where I get to watch 4 precious faces pile into the living room after doing their outside chores and we start our day together with our devotions and Bible study, have some great conversations, and then dive into our academic stuff. This time is but a vapor with our children and today I am thankful for every single second we have left!

Karina ranches with her husband, Marty, and 4 children near Merriman, NE. She grew up in western NE, with roots also in southwest SD. The cattle industry and raising kids is her passion.
Watching the cattle industry go the path that it has gone, she could no longer sit quietly at home checking cows, fixing fence, and doing all the everyday tasks wondering when some else was going to make it all better. As she became more active and outspoken on industry issues, she was asked to join the R-CALF USA staff in September 2020 as the Checkoff Petition Campaign manager. That position transcended into her former role as full time Field Director for R-CALF USA.
