Karina Jones is a real-life ranch wife in the Nebraska Sandhills and one of the most highly sought-after speakers in the cattle industry nationwide!

Welcome to the last Fun, Fact Friday of 2025!

Rather than focusing on one ag product today, I wanted to reflect on the bigger picture. As we just came through another blessed holiday season, I want to take some time to focus on the impact that the American agriculture has on the holidays.

Whether it was Prime Rib, ham, turkey, or a rack of lamb that was the star of your holiday feast, I hope we all realize that it was put there because of the hard work of a farmer or rancher, hopefully of domestic origin. The cranberries, the stuffing, the corn casserole all because of a farmer or rancher. And wether you filled your glass with eggnog or bourbon, again, that was all brought to you by someone in agriculture who cares about feeding people.

The wool sweaters that have kept you warm during your travels, brought to you by sheep producers. Special shoutout to our domestic wool producers. The wool socks my mom got me for Christmas are literally my favorite gift I received!

The cotton tablecloth and poinsettia that adorned your table, to impress your guests, could only happen because of talented farmers who can grow those special crops. And even the biofuels that we put in our cars to travel to see our families, are all because of the efforts of American farmers.

In closing, I just want to give a well-deserved thank you to American farmers and ranchers. Without you, our grocery stores shelves would be bare, infact, we might be running around bare, which is not a sight anyone wants to see. We wish American agriculture a very prosperous and thriving new year, because we all depend on you.

Karina ranches with her husband, Marty, and 4 children near Merriman, NE. She grew up in western NE, with roots also in southwest SD. The cattle industry and raising kids is her passion.

Watching the cattle industry go the path that it has gone, she could no longer sit quietly at home checking cows, fixing fence, and doing all the everyday tasks wondering when some else was going to make it all better. As she became more active and outspoken on industry issues, she was asked to join the R-CALF USA staff in September 2020 as the Checkoff Petition Campaign manager. That position transcended into her former role as full time Field Director for R-CALF USA.

Listen to Ranch Raised on a Your Ag Network hometown station or www.youragnetwork.com where she talks about her daily life on the Jones Ranch.

Cattle producers are her people. She will meet you at the county fair, at the sale barn, or anywhere the dusty trail leads.
