It’s the great peach debate! Thanks for joining me today on Ranch Raised.
It’s finally hitting, preservation season has hit my kitchen. I am deep in peaches and pears right now. Which brings me to today’s subject. I am having this seasonal internal struggle.
How much of these peaches do I freeze and how much do I can. It seems like I never hit the happy spot. And honestly, I usually run short on frozen peaches during the year. So I have tried to start my preservation season by freezing more peaches right off the bat. Don’t get me wrong, my family will eat a peach in form, but my girls love making smoothies, so freezing sliced peaches in quart size ziplock bags makes for really handy smoothies packs after school.
However, with so much beef in my freezer, I don’t have a plethora of freezer space to keep all the frozen peaches in there that they may need for the year. So inevitably the majority of these peaches have to end up canned to hang out in the pantry. And that is fine with my family too. I will also use the left over juices and bits to make peach jelly, which my husband calls sunshine in a jar. And of course, peach syrup, which we love on pancakes and making peach tea with. I have goals of trying peach pepper jelly too!
