Karina Jones is a real-life ranch wife in the Nebraska Sandhills and one of the most highly sought-after speakers in the cattle industry nationwide!

Who? What? When? Where?
It’s the standard for every journalist to create a great story and the story of the first Christmas is no different!

How could the greatest story known to man be set in the most humble of locations, surrounded by the most non-descript creatures. Yet it be a story worthy to be told for centuries and undoubtably deserving of every award coveted in Hollywood.

I know. I know the secret. There is nothing that makes you feel more alive, more humble, more grateful, and more aware, than night time in a barn surrounded by a few of God’s creatures. Even if you won’t be as lucky as I to experience new birth in a barn, on Christmas Eve, literally thanks to these goats, talk to any rancher and they will agree. There is life and magic in a barn that is not known in any other setting.

See, when you are in a barn, it doesn’t matter what car you drive, how much money you have in the bank, or who designed your jeans. In life’s most stripped down, plain scenario a king would be born. And in those moments, born in a barn, surrounded by livestock and common folk it becomes abundantly clear why I am so spiritually connected to what I do every day.

The first Christmas was so simple and that is why we choose to keep ours that way too. For we already know where miracles and blessings are found, in the barn.

So from our barn to yours, we wish you a blessed and Merry Christmas!

Karina ranches with her husband, Marty, and 3 daughters near Broken Bow, NE. She grew up in western NE, with roots also in southwest SD. The cattle industry and raising kids is her passion.

Watching the cattle industry go the path that it has gone, she could no longer sit quietly at home checking cows, fixing fence, and doing all the everyday tasks wondering when some else was going to make it all better. As she became more active and outspoken on industry issues, she was asked to join the R-CALF USA staff in September 2020 as the Checkoff Petition Campaign manager. That position transcended into her current role as full time Field Director for R-CALF USA.

You can hear her almost every Friday on Your Ag Network’s Hot Barn Report that is broadcast on 60 radio stations with coverage in 9 states, where she deep dives into cattle industry issues and highlights R-CALF’s work on industry reforms. Listen to Ranch Raised on a Your Ag Network hometown station or www.youragnetwork.com where she talks about her daily life on the ranch.

Cattle producers are her people. She will meet you at the county fair, at the sale barn, or anywhere the dusty trail leads.
