Welcome to the Friday edition of the HOT BARN REPORT
Heard ONLY on American radio stations across the nation and online at hotbarnreport.com!

Karina Jones, Field Director for R-Calf USA joins us each Friday from her ranch in the heart of Nebraska covering what’s new and important to the family farm and ranch.

Welcome to this special Christmas Eve edition of Hot Barn Report. As we enjoy this magical season, I would like to extend my appreciation to all of you, for a different reasons.

Thank you for faithfully tuning in to Hot Barn Report everyday. It is an honor to serve all of our listeners and sponsors providing up to date market information from the best sale barns in the nation and the most important cattle industry news. We are grateful to the Hot Barns that power this program Platte Livestock, Presho Livestock, Stockman’s Livestock, Bassett Livestock, North Platte Stockyards, Lemmon Livestock, Crawford Livestock and Mobridge Livestock.

Our commitment to you is unwavering because your commitment to feed this country is unmatched. And for that, we are grateful. Here at Hot Barn Report we recognize everyone involved in American agriculture. This weekend most all of you will sit down with your families to enjoy a meal, hopefully of American sourced foods. Because of the commitment to meet consumers demand for high quality American products, especially beef, there will be many folks that are late to their family’s dinner or will have to take a raincheck.

You see cattle still have to eat, even on holidays. Someone still has to run that feed truck. Someone still has to check the health of those cattle that will become your summertime steaks. Many men and women involved in agriculture will quietly do all the things that have to be done tomorrow before they get to enjoy time with their family, because they are so committed to feeding all of you. It is the most thankless, yet gratifying calling to take care livestock.

You all know that the greatest story known to man was set in the most humble of locations, surrounded by the most non-descript creatures. Yet it be a story worthy to be told for centuries and undoubtably deserving of every award coveted in Hollywood.

The American rancher knows the secret to that story deeper than most. There is nothing that makes you feel more alive, more humble, more grateful, and more aware, than night time in a barn surrounded by a few of God’s creatures. Even if you won’t be as lucky as I to experience new birth in a barn, on Christmas Eve, talk to any rancher and they will agree. There is life and magic in a barn that is not known in any other setting.

We know that for most in the cattle industry, it will be a “Hard Candy Christmas”. But, most will keep fighting for their future in this industry because just like the first Christmas story, they know that miracles and blessings of a life in a barn….or pasture….or feedlot. And while all of you stay committed to your own operations, I can promise you that R-CALF USA will stay committed to leading the way to restore fair cattle markets and mandatory country of origin labeling so that you can get what you deserve for all of your effort and hard work!

Thank you once again from all of us at Your Ag Network and Hot Barn Report. Many blessings to you and your family and Merry Christmas!
