LAS VEGAS — The Wright family put on a historic performance Friday night at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo.
Brothers Ryder, Stetson and Statler Wright swept the top three positions in Round 9 of saddle bronc riding before a crowd of 17,820 at the Thomas & Mack Center, marking the first time since 1990 that siblings finished first, second and third in a single NFR bronc riding round.
Stetson Wright led the charge with an 89.75-point ride aboard The Cervi Brothers’ R. Watson’s Mad Skills to earn $36,668. Statler Wright followed with 88 points on Dakota Rodeo’s Cash Deal, while Ryder Wright placed third with an 86.5-point ride on Bridwell Pro Rodeos’ Indian Burn.
“It’s freaking special,” Stetson Wright said. “That’s something we’ve dreamed of since we were kids, getting here and dominating.”
The last time brothers accomplished the feat came in Round 9 of the 1990 NFR, when ProRodeo Hall of Famers Dan, Robert and Billy Etbauer finished one-two-three.
The win pushed Stetson Wright’s NFR earnings to $344,689 and expanded his all-around lead to $166,345 with one round remaining. He entered the night holding a $129,677 edge over Wacey Schalla. Wright is now within $263,641 of becoming the first roughstock cowboy to eclipse $1 million in a single season and is closing in on a fifth all-around world title, which would tie Hall of Famers Larry Mahan and Tom Ferguson.
Schalla remains mathematically alive heading into the final round, with potential earnings still available in bareback riding and bull riding.
Statler Wright’s second-place finish strengthened his lead in the saddle bronc average standings and moved him to third in the world standings. With Zeke Thurston bucking off in Round 9, Statler is now projected to win the PRCA world championship in the event, while Ryder Wright, who currently leads the world standings, is projected to finish second.
Elsewhere in Round 9, Cooper Cooke returned to the bareback riding winner’s circle with an 86.75-point ride on Beutler & Son Rodeo’s No Whiskey’s Redlicious Meats, earning his second round win of the NFR. Justin Shaffer captured the steer wrestling title with a 3.6-second run, while Lightning Aguilera and Kaden Profili claimed their third team roping round win of the Finals.
Haven Meged earned his first round victory of the 2025 NFR in tie-down roping with a 7.0-second run, and Qynn Andersen posted his first career NFR round win in bull riding with an 87-point ride. In barrel racing, Carlee Otero set a new round record with a 13.20-second run.
