Without estate planning in place, operating heirs are doing nothing more than building a nest egg for all the heirs.

Between weaning calves and wrapping up harvest, I can already hear the moans and groans of talking about this subject. But the truth is, if this subject continues to be avoided farm and ranch country suffers greatly! 

I’m ready to rip the bandaid off of this subject that plagues the agriculture sector! In fact, I will testify that lack of estate planning is one of the top reasons that farming and ranching operations fold and legacies are lost.

The 4-H pledge is no doubt, near and dear to my heart. And speaking of “heart”, the second line of the pledge addresses the “heart” that it takes to be successful in this youth development program, and in life in general.  

Living the 4-H pledge out loud, every day, is one of my greatest accomplishments!  Let me share that pledge with you.  “I pledge my head to clearer thinking.”

4-H engages, enables and empowers young people every day, and this year’s annual 4-H Week reminds us that every child has valuable strengths and real influence to improve the world around us.
