Karina Jones is a real-life ranch wife in the Nebraska Sandhills and one of the most highly sought-after speakers in the cattle industry nationwide!

On the heels of crowning state FFA Champions, there is a certain skill that is in the spotlight during the month of April.

National Welding Month in April recognizes an industry that has kept the nation growing for generations. Skilled welders not only keep products rolling off an assembly line and buildings rising into the skyline, but they also keep the economy booming.

Welders keep our communities and nation moving in more ways that one. Beyond the products they help manufacture, they are also key to the safety of the products and structures. When it comes to our power grid, welders are an instrumental part of all our energy sources, past, present and future.

The demand for skilled welders will increase as the new technologies require trade work to meet manufacturing needs.  Future generations will need to fill the gap. I am want to give a shout out to high school ag and technical skills programs who are shaping the future generation of welders. Introducing the skill of welding to kids at this age is critical for future growth of this needed industry. Right now America is need of technical and trade workers that provide critical skills to our nation’s infrastructure. So please consider a welding program at your high school and I hope your community supports it so that the needed supplies and technology are readily available.

That’s all for today folks! Just a big shout out to the welding industry and its professionals during National Welding Month!

Karina ranches with her husband, Marty, and 4 children near Broken Bow, NE. She grew up in western NE, with roots also in southwest SD. The cattle industry and raising kids is her passion.

Watching the cattle industry go the path that it has gone, she could no longer sit quietly at home checking cows, fixing fence, and doing all the everyday tasks wondering when some else was going to make it all better. As she became more active and outspoken on industry issues, she was asked to join the R-CALF USA staff in September 2020 as the Checkoff Petition Campaign manager. That position transcended into her former role as full time Field Director for R-CALF USA.

Listen to Ranch Raised on a Your Ag Network hometown station or www.youragnetwork.com where she talks about her daily life on the Jones Ranch.

Cattle producers are her people. She will meet you at the county fair, at the sale barn, or anywhere the dusty trail leads.
