Karina Jones is a real-life ranch wife in the Nebraska Sandhills and one of the most highly sought-after speakers in the cattle industry nationwide!

The color green! Thanks for checking in right here on Ranch Raised.

As we have received some beautiful moisture this week across the upper midwest, we are starting to see the hills come alive with the most beautiful color of emerald green. When I see this shade of green blanketing the landscape, it stirs deep emotion for me. I have sat with the anxiety of not knowing if we will have enough grass to feed our cattle due to drought. I can not overstate how heavy those feelings are and deciding who might get to stay on the ranch and who might have to go.

But, in the same way the dirt blowing and the stress of lingering drought weighs on the soul, seeing the earth quenched and coming to life lifts spirits across cattle county like nothing else.

The color green often represents nature or the environment. Green can also symbolize good health and vitality. This color may also be used to signify balance, fertility, and renewal.

Green symbolizes money, luck, prosperity, and vitality. In the aura green signifies balance, peace and often indicates ability as a healer.

Even if you are not a rancher, I encourage everyone to get outside this time of year. Put down the phone. Awaken your senses. Bath in the beauty around you. This time of year is magical in so many ways, let yourself experience it! It is healing. It is calming yet brings and energy that can not be consumed from can or bottle. Spring is intoxicating, so come alive with your surroundings.

Karina ranches with her husband, Marty, and 4 children near Broken Bow, NE. She grew up in western NE, with roots also in southwest SD. The cattle industry and raising kids is her passion.

Watching the cattle industry go the path that it has gone, she could no longer sit quietly at home checking cows, fixing fence, and doing all the everyday tasks wondering when some else was going to make it all better. As she became more active and outspoken on industry issues, she was asked to join the R-CALF USA staff in September 2020 as the Checkoff Petition Campaign manager. That position transcended into her former role as full time Field Director for R-CALF USA.

Listen to Ranch Raised on a Your Ag Network hometown station or www.youragnetwork.com where she talks about her daily life on the Jones Ranch.

Cattle producers are her people. She will meet you at the county fair, at the sale barn, or anywhere the dusty trail leads.
