It looks like much of the upper Midwest and plains are in for some wintery weather this week right during prime holiday shopping time. Don’t go crazy trying to get those big towns. I bet there are hidden gems all over your small communities that will you have your gift giving needs covered.

Did I leave your mouth watering with so many Christmas cookie options? So many options to make and let’s be honest, have any of us met a cookie we didn’t like, especially during the holidays?!?!

Did you actually think I would skate through this holiday season with out talking about Christmas cookies?!?!

Franklin D Roosevelt once said, “We cannot build the future for our youth, but we can build our youth for the future!” Boy, does that resonate with in me!

This weekend I took a couple of my girls and their one Angus heifer to the Nebraska Angus Winter Show. The quality in cattle was extremely deep, but what I really gotta brag on is the quality of kids!

It is the first Fun, Fact Friday of the new month! Did you know that December is “Root Vegetable Month”? So, let’s “dig in”….see what I did there?!?!

The lights are twinkling and if you are lucky you have a blanket of snow on the ground. Welcome to December! If you have young kids like we do, this month becomes a busy blurr! Christmas programs at church and at school. Christmas parties in classrooms and with various groups and clubs. Add in the usual chores around the ranch and it all piles up fast! But, as the song says, “Its the most wonderful time of the year!”

Yesterday I started telling of the story about a prominent cattleman in the Omaha area that donated resources, a vision, and ultimately belief into the young men that traversed through the Omaha Home for Boys.

It has often been said that every youth is just one caring adult away from being a success story. I think that this statement is 1000% true. I bet we can all think of caring adults from our youth that inspired us or cheered us on to success. Many of them may have been anchored in one of the many wonderful youth organizations in country.
