We are just coming off of 5 glorious days with all of our kids home because of snow days last week. There were movies, snuggling, crafts, snowball fights, playing in snow, snow forts and gallons of hot cocoa.

I found this poem online by 9 year Sam D and I thought it was pretty fitting to share what a winter day like today looks like through a child’s eyes.

School is out today for a snow day! Whoohoo! This momma doesn’t mind one bit. Any excuse to have all my chicks in the nest is fine by me.

Yesterday I stepped in to new water talking about kids and community service. I want to really empower families to look around and to find ways to plug time and energy into their communities.

Growing up, some of my strongest memories tied to 4-H were those that had nothing to do with the county fair or ribbons, but had everything to do with serving.

National Milk Day, not to be confused with World Milk Day, is celebrated on January 11 to commemorate the first delivery of milk to homes in America back in 1878.

Good golly, we are socked in the middle of these long winter months. If you have kids, like I do, or you yourself are just generally antsy for spring, these months can be hard to tolerate. We are always looking for ways to pass the dark hours after evening chores.

The trip I took last week did squeeze my heart, if I’m being completely honest.
