Let’s chat fireworks safety today on Ranch Raised. Okay, I’m playing my “mom card” pretty heavy today. In fact, it is my entire “mom hand” I’m laying on the table.
I just want everyone to be safe this holiday week. I want everyone to have a sober driver on the roads and on the water. I want everyone to keep their hands at 10 and 2 and not be distracted. I want everyone one to have a lifejacket on the water. I want kids supervised while they are having fun.
And under my momma safety microscope this week are fireworks. Every year, thousands of people are injured badly enough to require medical treatment after fireworks-related incidents, with many of the injuries to children and young adults. While the majority of these incidents are due to amateurs attempting to use professional-grade, homemade or other illegal fireworks or explosives, less powerful devices like small firecrackers and sparklers can also cause significant injuries. Please, do not let children light off fireworks unattended. Be aware your surroundings to keep bystanders safe and prevent fires.
Not to be a wet blanket, but, if my words rattle and ring in your head this week, then my momma heart will rest easy. Your momma wants to hear from you next week. Your employer wants to see you at work on Monday. And I want all of us to have a safe and fun 4th of July season celebrating with friends and family and above all making unforgettable positive memories.
Be safe and have a great week!
