Karina Jones is a real-life ranch wife in the Nebraska Sandhills and one of the most highly sought-after speakers in the cattle industry nationwide!

National 4-H Month and National FFA week all got celebrated in grand style by my family, so let me give you a recap, today on Ranch Raised.

You all know that I love celebrating these two phenomenal youth organizations. Last week I gave you lots of fun facts about the history of FFA. The month has flown by and I have not given 4-H the attention it is due during National 4-H month, so I promise I will have more to come this week about 4-H.

Our family is in 4-H and now that my girls are getting older FFA mode, 365 days a year. We don’t just amp it up the month leading up to the county fair. We actively engage in opportunities all year around and even at home. Skills are being strengthened every day, goals are being conceived, and execution is happening.

This past week I talked about how my oldest daughter spent the week at the Nebraska Cattlemen’s Classic working for a seedstock breeder. She was learning how to care for cattle on the road, away from home. She was refining her clipping and fitting skills. She was building her important network of people she works with in the cattle industry.

Along with her sister, they partnered on a steer to add to the show barn, giving them the opportunity to exhibit him in the youth show this weekend. I loved watching my girls work together to get this steer ready for his showring debut.

These are moments that turn into memories for my family!

Karina ranches with her husband, Marty, and 4 children near Broken Bow, NE. She grew up in western NE, with roots also in southwest SD. The cattle industry and raising kids is her passion.

Watching the cattle industry go the path that it has gone, she could no longer sit quietly at home checking cows, fixing fence, and doing all the everyday tasks wondering when some else was going to make it all better. As she became more active and outspoken on industry issues, she was asked to join the R-CALF USA staff in September 2020 as the Checkoff Petition Campaign manager. That position transcended into her former role as full time Field Director for R-CALF USA.

You can hear her almost every Friday on Your Ag Network’s Hot Barn Report, where she deep dives into cattle industry issues and industry reforms. Listen to Ranch Raised on a Your Ag Network hometown station or www.youragnetwork.com where she talks about her daily life on the Jones Ranch.

Cattle producers are her people. She will meet you at the county fair, at the sale barn, or anywhere the dusty trail leads.
