Karina Jones is a real-life ranch wife in the Nebraska Sandhills and one of the most highly sought-after speakers in the cattle industry nationwide!

Welcome back to Ranch Raised! You picked a great day to tune in. So, I have more than just kitchen recipes up my sleeve. Just like some people like to tinker in their shop or garage, I like to tinker and make everyday household products that are cleaner and work better for my family.

When I found a recipe for foaming handsoap from a friend, I noticed immediately how easy it was to make. And then I fell in love with how much it improved the condition of our hands over time! And the rest is history! I have been making our own foaming hand soap for 6 or 7 years now.

Chances are you already have an 8-ounce foaming hand soap bottle, if you don’t you can easily find them online. Add 2 tablespoons of liquid castile soap and 1 tablespoon of fractionated coconut oil. I also add 5-10 drops of a high-quality essential oil that has some anti-microbial properties to it. During the winter, you can also pull out the big guns and add a teaspoon of Vitamin E oil. Then just fill the rest of the bottle with water and give a gentle shake to mix.

If you need a little “grit” when washing your hands, I just grab some epsom salts, which are always in a bowl by my sinks.

This recipe pumps out a beautiful cloud of foaming hand soap. You can use essential oils to make it smell like you like. It is so inexpensive to make and it creates less waste reusing that foaming hand soap bottle. This recipe will be posted on my Ranch Raised FB page and the Your Ag Network website!

Karina ranches with her husband, Marty, and 3 daughters near Broken Bow, NE. She grew up in western NE, with roots also in southwest SD. The cattle industry and raising kids is her passion.

Watching the cattle industry go the path that it has gone, she could no longer sit quietly at home checking cows, fixing fence, and doing all the everyday tasks wondering when some else was going to make it all better. As she became more active and outspoken on industry issues, she was asked to join the R-CALF USA staff in September 2020 as the Checkoff Petition Campaign manager. That position transcended into her current role as full time Field Director for R-CALF USA.

You can hear her almost every Friday on Your Ag Network’s Hot Barn Report that is broadcast on 60 radio stations with coverage in 9 states, where she deep dives into cattle industry issues and highlights R-CALF’s work on industry reforms. Listen to Ranch Raised on a Your Ag Network hometown station or www.youragnetwork.com where she talks about her daily life on the ranch.

Cattle producers are her people. She will meet you at the county fair, at the sale barn, or anywhere the dusty trail leads.
