When I made my Ranch Raised pregnancy announcement a few weeks back, I referenced that I had moved back in to the fall calving herd. If you remember back to this summer, I shared that we had to make the hard decision, because of the drought, to sell our fall calving herd. So our usual days of finding fall born baby calves in the tall grass is just a memory this year.
I love weekends like the one we just had here at the Jones Ranch! The weather was mild and beautiful. We didn’t have much going on away from the ranch, so I was able to focus on what needed done in my kitchen and garden. One of my favorite things about fall is the harvesting of the bounty!
Let me open by reading a statement from Rep. Glenn Thompson (R-PA). “Without a robust rural America, people in the city are going to wake up hungry, and the more I learn about cotton, they’re going to wake up naked too.” I like that quote. We don’t want the consuming public to forget the essential value of the farmers, ranchers, and whole ag industry.
