The farmer’s share of every dollar consumers spend on food has fallen from 50 percent in 1952 to less than 15 percent today. Even though consumers are paying more for food this year, almost none of that is being passed on to America’s family farmers and ranchers.    

I hope you have arrived safely at your destination and are enjoying the bounties of someone’s harvest and the company of family and friends. I hope that your table of full of great food and your favorite people gathered around it. 

We know that some of you, and us included, will be missing loved ones this holiday season. 
There’ll be an empty chair at our table, and an ache in our hearts. 

No need to go overboard with a fancy table and decorations galore. 

Just focus on the people that are coming to your home and you will need nothing more.   

Is anyone else as excited as I am for this week? You know what makes me giddy with the most anticipation? Having all my kids home from school!  

Cranberries are a show stopper on any holiday table. They are bursting with tart flavor and are at the top of the list of healthy foods.

There is a lot of jobs in this world and a lot for jobs looking for people to show up and work. Let’s all enjoy a frappe or a cup of joe and get to work.

With food-flation and grocery prices the way they are, I think thorough planning is more important than ever this holiday season to avoid bloated grocery bills and famished wallets.

This will be a principle I will talk about a lot during the holiday season. Support those who sponsor the trophies at the county fair, who’s name is on the back of the little basketball jerseys in your town or give to make sure the kids have a post prom party. Those are the real heroes in small town America!
