Karina Jones is a real-life ranch wife in the Nebraska Sandhills and one of the most highly sought-after speakers in the cattle industry nationwide!

Thanks for tuning in to this mid-week edition of Ranch Raised as we look back on how I raised to become a woman who loves this ranch life! My grandma always had a garden, more modest in size than her own mothers and a beautiful strawberry patch, if you asked me back then I could have sworn that we put up more sweet corn than anyone in the county and she had probably thee best garlic dill pickle recipe! My mom was also a gardener when we were young and had some serious salsa making skills! Every freezer was full with homegrown chickens, beef, pork and lamb. While I really have no desire to go back to the days when we would butcher a couple of hundred chickens in a day, I do love our 8 naughty hens who lay their eggs in peculiar spots in the barn but Doug, our super naughty rooster has one foot in the stew pot if he chases my youngest daughter again. I probably will not have silver and gold to pass on to our girls but I pray that they have been watching and learning from all that they can provide for their families one day. My oldest daughter is our baker and has her gravy making skills are down pat. Our middle daughter is one with the earth, my garden grower, flower loving girl who has black dirt pumping through her veins. Our youngest shows promise as our best pie baker. And I have yet to birth a dishwasher, so there is that.

I value a simple way of life that offers fresh air, great scenery and a love for raising my family in the best place on earth, on the ranch! Never miss an episode of Ranch Raised on the Your Ag Network app or website!

Karina ranches with her husband, Marty, and 3 daughters near Broken Bow, NE. She grew up in western NE, with roots also in southwest SD. The cattle industry and raising kids is her passion. Watching the cattle industry go the path that it has gone, she could no longer sit quietly at home checking cows, fixing fence, and doing all the everyday tasks wondering when some else was going to make it all better. As she became more active and outspoken on industry issues, she was asked to join the R-CALF USA staff in September 2020 as the Checkoff Petition Campaign manager. That position transcended into her current role as full time Field Director for R-CALF USA. You can hear her almost every Friday on Your Ag Network’s Hot Barn Report that is broadcast on 60 radio stations with coverage in 9 states, where she deep dives into cattle industry issues and highlights R-CALF’s work on industry reforms. Listen to Ranch Raised on a Your Ag Network hometown station or www.youragnetwork.com where she talks about her daily life on the ranch.

Cattle producers are her people. She will meet you at the county fair, at the sale barn, or anywhere the dusty trail leads.
