Karina Jones is a real-life ranch wife in the Nebraska Sandhills and one of the most highly sought-after speakers in the cattle industry nationwide!

Welcome to this 7/11 edition of Ranch Raised! Kinda makes me wanna go grab a Big Gulp Slurpee in celebration!
Which makes me think of a cow we had who landed the lucky number 7-11 as her tag number. She was 2007 model who had a set of twins during her tenure at the Jones Ranch. She did a great job for the first few days mothering twins but the time came when we had to pull one calf off and bring it to the barn for some extra TLC. With out skipping a beat, my husband said, “let’s name him “QuickStop”” since his mother was 7-11. Okay, I know, only those of us born in the 1980’s and before probably get that witty little story. And if you couldn’t love this story anymore, I will tell you that 7-11 actually birthed a second set of twins later in life, which is very rare to have a cow birth multiple sets of twins in her lifetime.

In doing a bit of research, today also marks, All American Pet Photo Day, which my girls will totally love. International Essential Oil Day, fun fact about me I use essential oils literally everyday and can’t imagine my life without them. National Blueberry Muffin Day, YUM! National Ranier Cherry Day, I have always wanted to plant fruit trees! National Swimming Pool Day, which I bet many of you listening will happily observe today. Make your own Sundae Day, Whoohoo!

Slurpees, Sundaes, Swimming Pool today is a trifecta, so live it up today! But come back tomorrow, I’ve got another garden story to fill you in on!

Karina ranches with her husband, Marty, and 3 daughters near Broken Bow, NE. She grew up in western NE, with roots also in southwest SD. The cattle industry and raising kids is her passion.

Watching the cattle industry go the path that it has gone, she could no longer sit quietly at home checking cows, fixing fence, and doing all the everyday tasks wondering when some else was going to make it all better. As she became more active and outspoken on industry issues, she was asked to join the R-CALF USA staff in September 2020 as the Checkoff Petition Campaign manager. That position transcended into her current role as full time Field Director for R-CALF USA.

You can hear her almost every Friday on Your Ag Network’s Hot Barn Report that is broadcast on 60 radio stations with coverage in 9 states, where she deep dives into cattle industry issues and highlights R-CALF’s work on industry reforms. Listen to Ranch Raised on a Your Ag Network hometown station or www.youragnetwork.com where she talks about her daily life on the ranch.

Cattle producers are her people. She will meet you at the county fair, at the sale barn, or anywhere the dusty trail leads.
