Before the House left for Christmas break, they did pass legislation that effects the nation’s school lunch program. According to House Ag Committee Chairman, GT Thompson, along with 329 of his colleagues, voted in favor of H.R. 1147, the Whole Milk for Healthy Kids Act. This legislation, which passed the House with overwhelming bipartisan support, will restore the option of whole milk in school nutrition programs.
This time of year, we start every morning with a drops of peppermint essential oil in our coffee grounds, so I for one appreciate the American peppermint farmer!
Does anyone else find a simple candy cane as nostalgic as I do?
For my kids, like so many involved in the western way of life, the NFR is a week to dream. A week to imagine the excitement of being a kid from a little map dot town making it to the big lights of Vegas.

Looks like more than American cattle producers have beef with USDA’s recent announcement to open our borders and market to Paraguay beef. Now, Congress has stepped in.
But this time of year, it is time for me to revert back to one of our old favorites, the Snickerdoodle! And let’s be honest, there is nothing more cozy that a soft, buttery cookie hugged in warm cinnamon and sugar this time of year.
