How can we all turn the tide and bring attention back to the center of home? Eating and making more meals at home as a family. Turning off all of the distractions around us. Creating a work-life balance that promotes health and harmony in the home.  

The American culture has become ripe with infatuation of not what they can produce in their home but instead what they can buy.

I think these are all powerful reminders that as parents, we have a heavy responsibility to be the leaders of our family ship and decide how the hours of the day are spent by everyone in our home. 

We just came off of a big weekend spending time as a family at the world renowned AKSARBEN Stock Show. Well, to be honest, we spend every weekend, make that everyday as a family, one way or another.  

While taking in the splendid colors of fall are my favorite way to feast my senses, it seems that the some other pesky little creatures really want to be seen!  Because fall is also synonymous with “fly season.” 

I love living in a land where the changing of the seasons can be experienced by all of my senses.

But, alas, all I hold now are the memories and the abundant remnants of our time spent together marked by a pantry full quart and pint mason jars brimming with fruits and vegetables to sustain my family. 

Growing up on a farm and ranch has many benefits for children, but farms can also be dangerous, too.

Take the time to identify risk areas on your operation, create a safety plan, and communicate to everyone on your team! You are all worth it! 

So let’s continue to work together to keep our communities safe, healthy, and injury free not just during National Farm Safety and Health Week, but all year long.
