There may have been a strong chill in the air requiring coveralls, extra layers, and hot cocoa to get through morning chores, but it was an absolutely glorious weekend at the Jones Ranch.  

I plan on making my kids some Hocus Pocus punch this weekend! I’m giving you this recipe today so you can swing by the store and grab the ingredients.

Living this far away from civilization, it becomes rather easy for me to be able to completely ignore what the rest of society is doing, and sometimes that includes holidays and celebrations. More often than not, I am the mom scrambling to pull something together for a class party or even for a mild holiday celebration here at home.

A neighboring young man, in our 4-H club, had a beautiful assortment of chickens he had raised to choose his 4-H show chickens from. They were close to home, and I am a sucker for supporting a 4-H kid with a project they are passionate about.

On our way back from Kansas City this weekend, I knew that there was a hidden gem not far off our path that I had to share with my girls at Nebraska City. The fall colors were vibrant, the small town feeling was quant, and I am so thankful that there are still people in this world tending to these beautiful apple orchards. 

I was surrounded by people who have invested in the next generation of the cattle industry and youth that have such passion in their bellies for this industry. I left inspired!
