Karina Jones is a real-life ranch wife in the Nebraska Sandhills and one of the most highly sought-after speakers in the cattle industry nationwide!
Does it really have to be over?!?!
Welcome back to Ranch Raised! Just as expected we spent the holiday weekend pretty heavily engaged in the kidding barn and outside feeding cattle and making the rounds.
Our middle daughter seems to always score a black, dapple doeling for Christmas every year and this year was no different. A beautiful, splashy doeling she named “Opal” was born on Christmas day. For those of you not aware, black dapples are highly coveted in the goat world. Her novelty and rarity are worth quite a bit, I mean if my kids would ever sell female goats, which they most definitely would not. Because who in their right mind would every sell masterpieces like this?!?!
Luckily, we still have quite a bit of kidding ahead of us, like the song says, “The Road Goes on Forever, but the Party Never Ends.” Which brings me to my next point, why let the party end?!?!
Why not live like it is Christmas every day?!?! I mean without the retail spending part. But, why not celebrate our blessings all around us, all year long? Let’s make Christmas a state of mind, not just 1 day a year where we go all out. There is definitely something to celebrate every day!
Celebrate with me all week, right here on Ranch Raised! I have a new recipe to share tomorrow that was a breakfast hit in my house! There is a sneak peek on the Ranch Raised FB page. Then we will round out the week with a “Best of 2021” look back! So stay with me all week long!

Karina ranches with her husband, Marty, and 3 daughters near Broken Bow, NE. She grew up in western NE, with roots also in southwest SD. The cattle industry and raising kids is her passion.
Watching the cattle industry go the path that it has gone, she could no longer sit quietly at home checking cows, fixing fence, and doing all the everyday tasks wondering when some else was going to make it all better. As she became more active and outspoken on industry issues, she was asked to join the R-CALF USA staff in September 2020 as the Checkoff Petition Campaign manager. That position transcended into her current role as full time Field Director for R-CALF USA.
You can hear her almost every Friday on Your Ag Network’s Hot Barn Report that is broadcast on 60 radio stations with coverage in 9 states, where she deep dives into cattle industry issues and highlights R-CALF’s work on industry reforms. Listen to Ranch Raised on a Your Ag Network hometown station or www.youragnetwork.com where she talks about her daily life on the ranch.
Cattle producers are her people. She will meet you at the county fair, at the sale barn, or anywhere the dusty trail leads.
