Just another manic Monday! Thanks for joining me today on Ranch Raised!
Life around here has been pretty rhythmic as we feed cattle and livestock everyday, sprinkled in with feeding and caring for us, the people that feed the livestock. And of course, then there is the rhythm of homeschooling that is laced over the top of ranch life.
Just because we homeschool, doesn’t mean that we miss out on some of the traditional events of public school. This week our mailbox has been full of Valentines Day cards from across the country as our girls are taking part in a Valentines Card exchange with other homeschoolers from coast to coast! Wow, it is so fun to receive all this happy mail and see where it is coming from! This is also a great exercise in making sure that my kids are mastering the skill of properly addressing envelopes and correctly using our mail system. We are also preparing to take part in a massive local homeschool Valentines Day party later this week, where over 60 kids are expected to attend! It should be a blast! Now I’ve got to decide what to take as a snack. I’m thinking a meat and cheese tray with Jones Ranch summer sausage or beef sticks to counter the sugar.
As well, we will need to swing by the grocery store and grab a few things for our favorite Jones Ranch Valentine’s Day tradition, Cupid Floats! Just grab some vanilla, cherry, or strawberry ice cream and then top with the soda pop of your choice! There are so many combinations to make this a fun treat for you family! How about picking out a few family movies to enjoy this week in the evenings or some board games. We are on a Racko kick around here!

Karina ranches with her husband, Marty, and 4 children near Broken Bow, NE. She grew up in western NE, with roots also in southwest SD. The cattle industry and raising kids is her passion.
Watching the cattle industry go the path that it has gone, she could no longer sit quietly at home checking cows, fixing fence, and doing all the everyday tasks wondering when some else was going to make it all better. As she became more active and outspoken on industry issues, she was asked to join the R-CALF USA staff in September 2020 as the Checkoff Petition Campaign manager. That position transcended into her former role as full time Field Director for R-CALF USA.
