Karina Jones is a real-life ranch wife in the Nebraska Sandhills and one of the most highly sought-after speakers in the cattle industry nationwide!
There is a stirring of excitement in our house and I can’t wait to tell you all about it, today on Ranch Raised.
Our back to school schedule is bringing lots of new things. Our oldest daughter is leading the charge as president of the first homeschool FFA Chapter in Nebraska! Some of these kids just came off of an incredible showing at the Nebraska State Fair, where 4-H and FFA show separately. I still get chills when a member of this chapter enters the showring and they announce them as a member of Nebraska Ag Academy! My second oldest daughter is a junior high student involved in this group. I’m in awe of how we started with just 8 members and have exploded to nearly 50, in just 3 years, truly making ag education available to all who want it in Nebraska!
Our youngest daughter is not only trying out youth volleyball in our community but she is also excited to get back to one of our family’s favorite school year traditions and that is our Wednesday night youth program at our church. Our church family is our family. We see them around the community, at other youth events, and we support those kids like we do our own.
If you are looking for a positive environment to surround your kids with, I encourage you to tap into your local church community. These activities can’t happen without an immense army of volunteers. So if your Wednesday evenings are free and you miss the infectious energy of children, I encourage you to step into the calling of volunteering at your church or local church community. You never know how you could be a lamp unto a child’s feet.
Karina ranches with her husband, Marty, and 4 children near Broken Bow, NE. She grew up in western NE, with roots also in southwest SD. The cattle industry and raising kids is her passion.
Watching the cattle industry go the path that it has gone, she could no longer sit quietly at home checking cows, fixing fence, and doing all the everyday tasks wondering when some else was going to make it all better. As she became more active and outspoken on industry issues, she was asked to join the R-CALF USA staff in September 2020 as the Checkoff Petition Campaign manager. That position transcended into her former role as full time Field Director for R-CALF USA.
Listen to Ranch Raised on a Your Ag Network hometown station or www.youragnetwork.com where she talks about her daily life on the Jones Ranch.
Cattle producers are her people. She will meet you at the county fair, at the sale barn, or anywhere the dusty trail leads.
