Karina Jones is a real-life ranch wife in the Nebraska Sandhills and one of the most highly sought-after speakers in the cattle industry nationwide!
Back to the grind for most of the world. Thanks for tuning in to Ranch Raised.
It has always been intriguing to me how half of the world stops for federal holidays and for some of us, the world just keeps turning. Maybe it is my perspective as someone who has grown up in production agriculture and that “cows have to be fed everyday” mentality. And also shout out to this radio station who works around the clock, everyday to bring news, entertainment, and music!
We had a non-stop weekend of being at the Nebraska State Fair supporting our older girls showing sheep and cattle. We ate some really good food, my favorite was the Papa Asada from the Leons Mexican Food Truck! My girls ended their weekend with Dole Whip, which was amazing! Oh and there was some fried ice cream that was noteworthy! We drank some good drinks like the Strawberry Lemonade Boba!
This morning, I woke up happy to have my own coffee! I don’t care what anyone else thinks, I will take my own coffee, brewed in my own kitchen any day of the week! And my kids, well, they were wanting breakfast, a real homecooked breakfast. So while they went out doing their chores. I whipped up some banana chocolate chip pancakes and they were happy!
Now it is time to do a reset around the house and settle in to our homeschool routine. I’ve got some peaches to can, some tomatoes to gather, and some sourdough to bake. How about you? What do you have going this week in your home?
Karina ranches with her husband, Marty, and 4 children near Broken Bow, NE. She grew up in western NE, with roots also in southwest SD. The cattle industry and raising kids is her passion.
Watching the cattle industry go the path that it has gone, she could no longer sit quietly at home checking cows, fixing fence, and doing all the everyday tasks wondering when some else was going to make it all better. As she became more active and outspoken on industry issues, she was asked to join the R-CALF USA staff in September 2020 as the Checkoff Petition Campaign manager. That position transcended into her former role as full time Field Director for R-CALF USA.
Listen to Ranch Raised on a Your Ag Network hometown station or www.youragnetwork.com where she talks about her daily life on the Jones Ranch.
Cattle producers are her people. She will meet you at the county fair, at the sale barn, or anywhere the dusty trail leads.
