Karina Jones is a real-life ranch wife in the Nebraska Sandhills and one of the most highly sought-after speakers in the cattle industry nationwide!
It’s as American as apple pie in most communities! Summer brings the annual tradition of Vacation Bible School at churches and communities across the land.
Honestly, growing up, attending VBS is one of my earliest childhood memories. The games, the snacks, the crafts, and activities were a summer highlight. My girls wouldn’t think of missing this summertime highlight for the same reasons that I loved it. Plus, it gets them off the ranch for a few hours this week and in town to see some of their friends, which is a bonus.
So, look around your community and see where you can plug your kids into vacation bible school activities. Most programs are non-denominational and you do not have to belong to that church. Think of it as a mini day camp with a really great purpose.
If you don’t have kids that are of the age to attend, I’m sure your helping hands and heart would be welcomed for helping any VBS program. As I said last week, in an earlier Ranch Raised episode, “volunteers are the soul of America”.
Speaking of earlier episodes, you can catch up on all Ranch Raised on the Your Ag Network App and Website. Also check out the full menu of YAN programs like the Territorial Rodeo Update, Hot Barn Report, and the newest addition, Greenhorn with Parker James! And you will find all of the recipes that I have shared in the past by clicking on the Ranch Raised Recipe book!
Karina ranches with her husband, Marty, and 4 children near Broken Bow, NE. She grew up in western NE, with roots also in southwest SD. The cattle industry and raising kids is her passion.
Watching the cattle industry go the path that it has gone, she could no longer sit quietly at home checking cows, fixing fence, and doing all the everyday tasks wondering when some else was going to make it all better. As she became more active and outspoken on industry issues, she was asked to join the R-CALF USA staff in September 2020 as the Checkoff Petition Campaign manager. That position transcended into her former role as full time Field Director for R-CALF USA.
Listen to Ranch Raised on a Your Ag Network hometown station or www.youragnetwork.com where she talks about her daily life on the Jones Ranch.
Cattle producers are her people. She will meet you at the county fair, at the sale barn, or anywhere the dusty trail leads.
