Platte Livestock Market in the progressive Dutch community of Platte, So Dak. Hogs, sheep and goats on Mondays, big feeder calf sale on Humpday. Marshall Ringling and Scott Kirsh are the big dogs at Platte Livestock Market.

Ryan and Joel at Creighton Livestock Market feature a Tuesday bovine sale where Nebraska corn country meets feedlot country. Always a packed house at Creighton Livestock Market.

Drop south to the railroad town of North Platte, Nebraska and you have North Platte Stockyards. Big stocker feeder sale on Tuesdays. Good crew to boot and now under the ownership of Jay Nordhausen and Lance Van Winkle who also own Ogallala Livestock Auction Market 50 miles West on the 1-80 super slab. Sales on Wednesdays and Thursdays in the high season. Ogallala a massive barn, well kept, freshly painted and with an old school catwalk system to view the backpens.

Tuesday Greg Ryken and his crew host one of the top fat cattle sales in the nation at Stockmen’s Livestock. Cattle coming in from Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska and the Dakota twins. Then they shift gears for their big Wednesday feeder calf sale at Stockmen’s in Yankton, South Dakota. Always a fun town to hole up for the night too…

Same with Lemmon Livestock, Prime-Time Paul Huffman and his crew throw a big Wednesday sale with critters coming in form Montana and Dakota South and North. As of press time, the best salebarn café with me being the judge… It’s what I do…

Wednesday is also sale day at Bassett Livestock Auction in Cowtown, aka Bassett, Nebraska. Eyes across the nation are always on Bassett Livestock Auction blanketing America’s top cow calf producing counties. Owners Shane and Jake have been known to entertain visiting dignitaries at the local waterin’ hole after the big sale.

Tri-County Livestock in Motely, Minnesota invites you to their Wednesday sales as well. Feeders and all classes rolling in from Michigan to North Dakota. A lot of good cattle from this neck of the woods… pun intended… always a packed house.

Casey Perman and the Anderburg brothers are hard charging Thursday at Mobridge Livestock Market. Hearty Norsky cattle and sales of over 13,000 head during the fall run, where corn country meets reservation lands.

Same with Presho Livestock Auction in South Dakota’s famous West river calving grounds. Sales on Thursdays starting whenever Ron Volmer finishes his pie and coffee and has plug of chaw, then it’s go time.

Justin Tupper lets’r rip Fridays at St. Onge Livestock in the Northern Black Hills. Thursdays are sale day at the world famous Newell Sheep Yards just down the road a piece.
